    FRANKLIN

and his wife, Kristin Adams, MD, have lived in the area and served the community in their medical practices since 1999. Franklin’s passion is to foster a healthy community both through the preservation of accessible green spaces and by building connections for healthful mobility. In his 6th year with the SRA Board, his belief in the power of neighbors cooperating to effect the common good has grown stronger as has appreciation for the specialness of the people of the valley and the place we share.

    BRENDA

and her husband, Dick Freije, Jr., have lived on Sargent Road for 21 years. They bought the property for their house as a wedding gift to each other in 1997. Brenda is passionate about helping to build healthier, more sustainable communities. She recently completed a PhD in collaborative leadership in social innovation and addressing wicked public challenges. She serves as the President and CEO of Rethink Coalition, which works with city, state, INDOT, business, and community leaders to coordinate decision-making around rebuilding the rest of the I-65/I-70 Inner Loop in downtown Indianapolis (minus the North Split just rebuilt) with recessed interstate construction to position the city for a thriving future for the next 50 years. Brenda also teaches at Butler University in the Lacy School of Business.

  • Craig

    Larry

and his wife Jane have resided in the Sargent Road area since 2013, returning to Indy after a 12-year assignment in The Netherlands with Allison Transmission. Larry retired from Allison in 2017 as the Executive Director of Global Marketing. He currently works from his home as CFO for Lovelytics, LLC an Arlington, VA based data analytics company. His experience living in a European country with an infrastructure focused on biking and other outdoor activities was key to his interest in the SRA. Larry enjoys working with the SRA team to protect and preserve the natural character of the valley and improve opportunities to enjoy it.

    TONYA

has resided on Sargent Road since 2019, but is no stranger to this area, as she enjoyed frequent childhood visits with her grandparents on Indian Lake before moving to central Indiana in the late 80’s and graduating from Lawrence North High School in 1991. A former high school English, speech, and theatre teacher, Tonya continues to pursue her passion for education in a variety of ways – as the dramatics director at LNHS, a standardized patient actor and educator for IU Health, and a certified yoga instructor for Rave Family Yoga. Tonya is also passionate about serving organizations that help make a positive difference. Through SRA, that translates into serving as the leader of the Litterbusters, through which she oversees cleanup efforts for the longest “block” (the 3.7-mile stretch of Sargent Road from 96th Street to Fall Creek Road) adopted through Keep Indianapolis Beautiful. If you happen to see Tonya cleaning up along the north end of Sargent Road, please be sure to wave or say hello.
